Team Building

After running an errand in Manhattan, I decided (against my own better judgement) to visit a nearby Barnes & Noble to check out their stock of Gundam kits.  Beyond the above display of awkward posing and missing parts, nothing in particular caught my eye.  Then I dug up these . . .

Mobile Suit Gundam Micro Wars 2

A series of candy toys from Bandai, these small figures and vehicles can hold even smaller figures inside of them.

Some assembly is required, but I didn't expect parts fixed to runners.  Also, if I didn't buy this hovertank, the Gundam figure wouldn't have a microfigure to stick inside.

In the meantime, while the pair of foot soldiers sit comfy inside the hovertank . . .

Gundam's designated pilot gets stuck manning the gun on the turret.  Compared to this, the Gundam figure needs more touch-up work, which I hope to get done by the week's end.

LEGO Disney Minifigures: Series 2

I've been collecting LEGO's blind-bag toys since I discovered them in the LEGO store at my local mall.  At $4 a pop, they're an affordable way to build or add to your brick collection.  Ironically, a lack of funds resulted in me selling all of 'em, save for the smallest Statue of Liberty you've ever seen.

Repeating this routine for years, I've never come close to completing a series, and this is by far the worst.  Taking 2 characters from each Disney franchise (or in the case of DuckTales, Scrooge McDuck and his nephews), you have to get one to complement the other.  As the above checklist shows, I was actually on a roll until I got an extra Chip n' Dale.  Once I get the 5 remaining toys on the list, I'm out of the LEGO game for good.  Worst case scenario: The stock runs out, there'll be a bunch of duplicates lying around and I'll have to order off eBay.

That's all for now.  Expect more toy and game-related post to come down the pipe, as I build the path to the TOP OF THE HEAP.  See you next time.

Edit: LEGO Disney Minifigures--Series 2 is also available at GameStop and Walgreens.
