Let's try this again . . .
My username is MSGSlayer1. And for the past 3 years, I've been collecting Spider-Man figures from Hasbro's Marvel Legends line. You know the rest . . .
I started by hunting for any and every ineration of Peter Parker I could find, before deciding to round up the whole Spider-Verse. Or at least as much of it as my wallet and storage space would allow.
Pictured above are the Spidey figures I've bought with the new plastic-free packaging, intending to open up all 3 to see whether I get the right figure. I've put off opening them for a good long while, so obviously I can't make any returns if there is a mistake. Here goes nothing . . .
Future Foundation Spider-Man (Stealth Suit)
Released in time for Spidey's 60th anniversary this is basically a palette-swap of the original FF suit, painting white on black plastic and not vice-versa. If I didn't read up on this variant, I would've sworn it's an updated Symbiote Spidey (can't call him Black Spidey anymore). I picked this up on my weekly trips to GameStop.
The figure and its accessories came wrapped in wax paper, and the figure itself was held in place with cardboard.
Once all the packaging's been removed, I could confirm with confidence that this is the right figure. The toy stands about 6 1/2 inches tall and includes 4 interchangable hands and a pair of web ropes.
Technically, this the first Marvel Legends figure I've ever opened, and one concern I've always had was whether they could pull off certain poses, like those on the box.
The joints were pretty stiff, great for durability though I worried something could snap off.
"Supaidaman"
"Supaidaman"
An emissary from Hell. A man who bleeds for love. A supporter of the Youth Detective Club. The World Martial Arts Champion. He holds many titles, but the internet knows him best as Japanese studio Toei's reimagining of the Webslinger. Though I've yet to watch the 70's live-action series, I've fallen for this version's over-the-top demeanor through multiple YouTube clips. So the moment the kind folks at Nerdzoic announced pre-orders, I plucked down the cash.
Though not as stiff as Future Foundation Spidey, I've discovered the limits of a $30 action figure when posing it to what I see in media.
After a fruitless hunt in the field, I bought this Target-exclusive online like everyone else. Probably my favorite character from Into the Spider-Verse, I wanted this one the most, to add to the other figures from the movie and complete the original Spider-Team (if and when Hasbro releases Peni Parker and Sp//dr).
I just want to point out that Noir does use his gun in-film once. The Spider-Woman figure will be reviewed in the near future.
At this point, my review of all 3 toys is pretty much complete. But what if we added something extra in regards to Noir?
Next I bought loose parts from a Red Skull figure--specifically a miniature Tessaract cube. After some putty, sanding, scribing and handpainting, I've made a tiny Rubik's cube for Noir.
I've also painted Red Skulls hands from a really dark gray to black. Red Skull's head looks way better on Noir's body. What do you think?
It's funny that accessories for Sentinel's upcoming Spider-Man Noir will include a burning matchstick but not the Rubik's cube he fiddled with in the movie.
Now I'm done. As we speak, I'm working on a post about the video games I've been playing lately (and yes, that includes Zelda), so look forward to that. I'm also digging up some unfinished Gundam models to keep my newfound momentum going. So a new Gunpla blog's coming up as well. So tune in next time as my climb to the Top of the Heap continues.
