Lite-Brites

From someone who has missed the meaning of New Year's resolutions, I'm dead set on 3: Cleaning up my home, curbing my shopping, and making use of what I have.  For my first toy blog for the new year, I'm starting at the top of the pile and working my way down (or gnawing at the sides or pulling stuff up from the bottom; whichever comes first).  And of course, there's plenty of Gundam toys lying around, so we might as well open a couple of those.

Gundam Ultimate Luminous

Not having much room--or need--for a Christmas tree, I figured this is the next best thing as far as decoration is concerned.  For both the price and cuz they're 2 of my favorites, I bought light-up figures of the RX-78-2 Gundam and Char Aznable's Zaku II.

Both figures are about 4.5 inches tall and each include their own battery-powered LED's.  As far as articulation goes, only the arms on both figures swivel.  Char's Zaku has an extra arm holding a bazooka and its legs are less stable than Gundam's for some reason.

Made of soft ABS plastic, it was easy to take apart the torso of each figure and stick the LED inside.  Or should I say, it was easy with Gundam; everything on the Zaku took some doing, even keeping the LED on.

Here are both figures lit up and ready for action.

While one could see the Zaku's monoeye plain as day, they'd have to stand at a certain angle to catch the light on Gundam's eyes and chest vents.

Because the LED on the Zaku was more delicate, I left it on--along with Gundam's--till the batteries ran out after about a week or so.  Here's a link to instructions on replacing the batteries, which are basically the ones you'd see in a hearing aid.

That's pretty much it for now.  Next time I'll open up a collection of toys centering around one of my favorite video game characters.  See you then.
