Mobile Suit Gundam Micro Wars 2
For my first toy-based blog, I've discovered Japanese gachapon figures and vehicles with gimmicks. I started with the hovertank that included the figurines needed to stuff into the RX-79 (G) Gundam Ground Type figure (above) before moving on to the Gundam itself.
The Gundam includes stickers but because I don't like them, I've opted to replace them with paint. So I separated the intended painting areas with masking tape . . .
And painted both feet, both head cameras, some tiny bumps on the legs and a spot on the crotch.
Both arms were fixed to a hard plastic runner. A little pressure, and they came together to complete the figure. I also painted the hands so they stood out.
These are Gundam's accessories. There were markings for the shield, but I added water-slide decals with setting solution instead.
Lastly, I pulled down on Gundam's backpack to open the chest. I then took a microfigure from the hovertank, stuffed it inside Gundam and voila.
We're now ready for action. 8th Team, moving out!
I've also thought about cleaning up the nub marks and seam lines on both toys as well as coloring the panel lines for detail. Ultimately I decided against it, lest I start something (else) that I wouldn't finish.
LEGO Disney Minifigures: Series 2
It must've taken a least year for me to complete this batch of blind-bag figures. I was surprised to see them in stock at my local GameStop for so long. But after all this time, I've found each and every one. All that's left now is to sell all the duplicate figs I've racked up and I'm officially done with LEGO's. They'll have to add more video game characters to pull me back in. Speaking of . . .
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures Mascot Figures
While still buying LEGO's, I happened upon these Nintendo mystery toys, each packed into green, plastic eggs. A rather creepy gimmick is you twist the heads on these figures to make the eyes move side to side. They all come with a sword and shield and have about 7 points of articulation--including a pair of short, stubby legs trying to support a skinny, big-headed body. 12 figs are available to collect; that's 4 multicolored Links with the same 3 facial expressions. But after finding all 4 Links with no duplicates, I'm good.
That's it on the toy front, for now. Join me on the next post to see what I've been doing on the gaming front, as I'm back on the trail to the Top of the Heap. See you next time.
